Position description: 

1. Develop and maintain clear underwriting guidelines and policies for the Commercial Lines team, ensuring they align with company objectives and industry best practices. 

2. Provide technical expertise and support to underwriters in evaluating complex or high-value commercial insurance risks to ensure sound underwriting decisions.

3. Analyze the commercial insurance portfolio to maintain a balanced mix of risks, optimize profitability, and achieve target loss ratios.

4. Collaborate with actuarial teams to establish competitive and sustainable pricing for various commercial insurance products.

5. Implement risk mitigation strategies and loss control measures to reduce the frequency and severity of commercial insurance claims.

6. Provide training and development opportunities to underwriting teams to enhance their technical underwriting skills and knowledge.

7. Conduct regular underwriting audits and quality assurance checks to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and compliance with regulatory requirements.

8. Collaborate with product development teams to identify opportunities for enhancing existing commercial insurance products or developing new ones to meet market demands.

9. Collaborate with the claims team to provide technical guidance on complex or contentious commercial insurance claims, ensuring fair and accurate claim settlements.

11. Foster strong relationships with brokers, clients, and reinsurers to enhance business partnerships and provide exceptional customer service.
